Barceló Corralejo Bay - Adults Only

I couldn’t have asked for much more from this hotel. The building itself was very nice, though a little dated. However, I know they are in the process of updating rooms (we had room 3126 which had already been refurbished), and the updates are nice. The facilities - spa, pools, gym, restaurants, bars were all second to none. The area around the pools has obviously been redone in the not too distant past, covering up the slippery tiles with a good, grippy surface, which was appreciated. What made the biggest impact, in a positive way, was the staff. They are excellent. I’m tempted to list some names, but would feel bad if I left out some of the people who were lovely, but whose names I can’t remember! So in the interests of fairness, I will just say they were all fab, from those on reception, to the friendly faces serving in the restaurant and bars, to the lady organising events, the housekeeping team, grounds staff, everyone. I found that the All Inclusive / Half Board option added a fair amount of faff to proceedings - as AI, it was fairly easy for us and this was easy for staff to determine by the colour of our wrist bands (green for AI, orange for HB), but the pieces of paper floating around for food and drinks orders, the receipt signing and so on must have been a nightmare to administer. We couldn’t help thinking that if they just stuck to AI, like some hotels and resorts we’ve been to before, it would massively reduce this faff and therefore the man hours required to unpick it. I loved having the room key built into the wrist band - such a good idea as you can’t leave the room without it! Thanks for a lovely stay - I would happily stay here again. Tips - bring beach towels. The hotel limit how many you can have so we found it very useful to have spares. Bring pegs - there are places to dry clothes and towels on the balconies, but the wind can gust and blow things off. Bring a pad / cushion to sit on on the sun loungers - they have no pads and we suffered plenty of numb bums. Cons - having to jump through hoops, and pay, for towels for the sun loungers. Having to pay to use the safe in the room. The lack of available places to get drinking water.

This was our first experience of an adults only all inclusive holiday. Here's the good, the bad and the unfortunate. We have stayed in Barcelos previously as a family of 4. The Good: Conveniently located, being close to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach. The rooms are dated but the cleaners are excellent and non intrusive, if you have a 'do not disturb' notice on the door they respect that and come back at a time that is more suitable. Our bed was very comfortable, however there is only a sheet covering you so if you like extra weight in your bed covers you may have to request additional bed coverings. The air con worked well. The majority of the staff were friendly, we did feel in the first week that they may have been understaffed and we got the impression the staff that were on duty were overworked and under pressure. We hit on a few good nights entertainment wise. On nights that we felt it wasn't for us, we went to the Rock bar that was a short stroll away and really enjoyed the live bands and cheap cocktails. The bad and unfortunate: We were not happy with the room we were originally assigned as it overlooked apartments on the side street. Not the 'limited sea view' room we had paid for. Initially this was a bit of an issue at reception, however after some discussion we were shown another room. We had to pay an additional €68 per night to change rooms to a room overlooking the pool. However, as this was our first 'adults only' experience we wanted our holiday to be special so we paid the additional €680 for the 10 nights of our stay. The room did have a hot tub on the balcony which was a novelty. The only option for lunch was food at the pool bar. For an all inclusive we found this bizarre as we would have dined in the main restaurant or had the option of snack bars in other resorts. The food was very inconsistent. The quality could be good on one day and terrible the next. The first day we arrived we ordered steak as we had been travelling since 3am that morning and wanted a substantial meal, one smell of the meat and unfortunately we had to return them as it smelled as if it had gone off, when my husband cut into his steak the meat was stringy and not the texture you would expect from beef. The waiter shouted at the chefs on taking back the plates but no alternative was offered to us. Another day I ordered a club sandwich and it was brought to the table with one of the sandwiches completely broken apart, as if it had either been dropped or the toast just broke apart. It was inedible. Another incident was a hot prawn dish was served without the prawns being deveined, which was very offputting as the same dish was served very differently two days previous. I would repeat the sentiment of another reviewer in relation to the availability of water and the pool area. There should be better access to water for guests. We were all inclusive and only provided water in the room on the day of our arrival. The bottles provided at the pool

Food is labelled well, but utensils' are shared which led to me being ill. very limited choice and trust led to me eating out every day. An issue with ants in our room, which we felt to blamed for even though we had no food in our room. We later found out it was a hotel problem, not an us problem. Some staff appeared a little dismissive of those from the UK, bot the majority really friendly and helpful.

We had a great time, first time in Fuerteventura but not using a Barcelo hotel. Service was great, staff were so friendly. Entertainment every day. Pool was perfect, pool bar food cooked to order. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
